hello friends,

One Thing we all have in abundance are books! I am always stressed about how can I keep all my books organized and they look good so I found an interesting and creative solution to this problem. I designed a books shelf in fusion 360 that looks like online text message boxes, I got them 3D printed and they look amazing on the wall and are very strong even at 50% infill setting.

I have included the model file, I hope you guys will enjoy making this really easy project to get your books organized beautifully.

Brainstorming Ideas

I was looking for a unique design for my book shelves, i started brainstorming for ideas and came up with different shapes likes simple rectangles, hexagons and octagons. I was quite impressed with the hexagonal shape but it was already used and storing books in them was not very efficient.

while browsing the web for ideas I was going through my Facebook messages and the message logo caught my sight and I wondered if they would look good as book shelf, then the idea struck me that in todays online life we are so busy with digital media that we have somewhere forgotten about books so keeping books in a message box would be a perfect way to depict this situation.

Designing the Shelf

The design of the shelf is really easy so anyone with a very basic knowledge of fusion 360 can design it. although I have attached the part file I wanted that anyone can make this and add their own preferred dimensions if they want. the book shelf I made was 50 cm X 30 cm.

One more benefit of this shape is that you can keep books in the bottom slant of the message box and it really looks great compared to other normal books shelves.

After drawing the sketch as showing in the image I extruded the sketch 15 cm.
