3D Printed Snowflake Medal

I created a snowflake medal, because I wanted to make a medal that was Christmas related.

Supplies

Offset Plane

onshape.step1.png

Create an offset plane that is 0.75 inches away from the back plane.

Center Circle Medal Outline

onshape.step2.png

Next, use the sketch feature on the offset plane and create a center circle with a diameter of 3.893 inches.

Medal Outline Extrusion

onshape.step3.png

After that, use the extrude feature with a depth of 0.5 inches.

Inner Medal Outline

onshape.step4.png

When you finish extruding the first circle, create another sketch onto the circle on its front plane and a center circle that has a diameter of 3.453 inches. You also create another center circle but for one that stays along the edges.

Extruding the Inner Medal Outline

onshape.step5.png

Begin to extrude the circles you have just drawn, with a depth of 0.15 inches.

Snowflake

onshape.step6.png

Draw a center circle with a new sketch on the inner circle with a diameter of 2.9 inches. Create lines in a 60 degree angle of space from the center point with a line that goes between it that is 0.751 inches away from each of the surrounding lines. Then, create your own lines to next for how your snowflake looks (each design may have different designs).

Snowflake

onshape.step7.png

Use the mirror line tool on the line in between both lines of the 60 degree angle. Select it as a mirror line and mirror the lines to use them for your snowflake design.

Creating the Snowflake Design

onshape.step8.png

Use the circular pattern and drag the circular pattern towards the center point. Change the 3x to 6x to multiply the design to have that circular pattern along the circle 6 times.

Extruding the Snowflake

onshape.step9.png

Use the extrude tool to extrude the snowflake with a depth of 0.25 inches with the extrude remove.

1st Place Text Box

onshape.step10.png

Create a new sketch on the circle's face with a text box saying "1st Place" and center it to the bottom center with the coincident tool.

Extrude Remove

onshape.step11.png

Use the extrude remove feature on the text box with a depth of 0.15 inches.

Hole to Hang Up

onshape.step13.png

Draw a new sketch on the outer layer. Then, draw a center circle with a diameter of 0.1 inches.

Extruding the Hole

onshape.step14.png

Extrude the hole by 1 inch.
