I went through the experimentation and design process of making a 3D Printed Bracket to make a strong and sturdy shelf for all your shelf needs.

Here is the link to my final product: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4840739

To start this project, at least 2 brackets need to be 3D printed, but more brackets can be added for extra strength and longer length. (I used PETG to print mine out).

These shelves will be attached to the wall with 2 screws.

Then it's time to cut the board to the desired length for your shelf. You can stain or paint the board to match the design of the location it is going in.

A 4th screw will be used to attach the bracket to the board so it doesn't move around and fall out of the brackets.

Once you have everything mounted and level then it is time to put the shelf to use!

Have fun and go crazy with it!

Supplies

I went and designed many different types of shelves and this is the strongest version I had made so I went with it. Thingiverse link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4840739

Experimentation

I made a small-scale test using a 2x4 as a test block to see how strong I could make it. After further testing, I made some improvements and made a full-scale version.

My 3D printing settings for the Ender 3:

Material: PETG

Temp: 240

Bed Temp: 60

Infill: 100%

Everything else was standard for the Ender 3 profile.

Cut Board to Length

I cut my board to 3 feet long. I used a miter saw but a hand saw would work just fine.

This is also the step to paint or stain the wood, this way it can match the location it is going to.

Mount the Brackets

I made sure my brackets were in line with each other, then I made them all level with one another. Once everything was set into place, I screwed them into the studs. With the 3 screws, I attached the bracket to the studs behind the drywall so I can have a strong and sturdy mounting point.

I took the board and placed it on top of the brackets. After lining everything up, I took the 4th screw and screwed it into the board through the hole on the underside of the bracket.

Now that your work is finished, it is time to put things on the shelf and enjoy it!
