This 3D printed plant holder, is easy to make and has a sleek and stylish design. But it also actually gives you the power to customize the growth and direction of the plant which is growing inside. By placing the plant holder underneath a light source you can easily change the direction of growth by resting the product on one of its 13 faces. Plants will always grow towards light, and by placing it on its side under a light, you can control the way your plant grows. As long as you own a 3D printer, this project is as simple as downloading the .stl file and printing it.

Download the .stl File

Download the provided .stl file and save it somewhere accessible, such as your desktop.

Print.

Now you want to open the .stl file in any program that is compatible with your 3D printer, and begin to print. Depending on settings this can take anywhere from 3 - 8 hours. Just have to be patient.

Done!

Now all you need to do is fill it with some soil and a plant! You can use a variety of plants, such as succulents, herbs and flowers. I found one of the best plants to use when customizing growth is a leggy plant, small, long stalk plants that love the sun and grow towards it. You can scale the .stl up or down depending on what you plan growing, you are only limited by the size of your printer.
