3D Printing Any Moon Terrain
  1. For Generate an Accurate Moon map we Check out Nasa 3d Resources Website.
  2. Click on ⬇⬇⬇
  3. https://trek.nasa.gov/moon/
  4. This is the official NASA Website To explore moon maps and different places with 3d terrain. The website Will take some time to load the moon map in Browser.
  5. Follow Tutorial for Explore different Feature of Website.
  6. For Generate 3d printed file of part of the moon, Follow the below Steps.
  7. The location of the Copernicus crater is :
  8. Latitude: 9.587* Longitude: -20.000*
  9. After selecting Location for 3d print ex.Copernicus Crater Zoom in Area for selection.
  10. Click the Right-Top Menu for Different options like measure distance, calculate sun angle, generate 3d print files, VR experience, and other options. For 3D File Generation Click on “Generate 3D Print file”.
  11. Click on Generate 3D print file and Select Area on map .area will Highlight on Yellow Shading.
  12. After selecting the Area Dialogue box appear for the select parameter for generating a 3d print file.
  13. For a generation of 3D Print, files Select the Below Parameters.
  14. Type: STL Bounding Box.: Not Change any parameter. Resolution: 200 to 400 Height exaggeration: 2 Texture: none
  15. After Feed Appropriate Parameter Click on submit button for generating the file. It automatically starts downloading files.

  1. Open Tinkercad and log in with your E-mail Id.
  2. Create New Design to make changes in STL File.
  3. Import STL File Generated from NASA TREK website.
  4. Choose a file from the download.
  5. Our download Moon map looks like this if we choose the same parameter stated.
  6. make a sure box to eliminate the extra height of the model.
  7. Select the new box as Hole not Solid. After selecting the Hole box will change color and become transparent.
  8. Select both Model and Box and Group both boxes.
  9. After Group Both model designs will look like this.
  10. Add wedges in design when you want to add a model name.
  11. For Add Name on Wedge slope, we select slope as a workplace.
  12. Add text by selecting TEXT in the same workplace.
  13. Merge all Bodies to make a single file. After Group body Our model looks Like this.
  14. Scale Model as per your size for 3D print. my Bed Volume is 215x215x250 mm. My model parameter is 200x200x15 mm.
  15. Export model for 3D printing.
  16. Select.STL File and it automatically download.

  1. As Per your 3D Printer Slice your file in a slicer and Generate an Appropriate file on your 3D Printer.
  2. Let’s print it.
  3. In My printer, it takes 8 Hr to print the whole model with the below printing parameter.

Printer = Ender-3

Nozzle Dia: 0.4mm

Wall thickness: 0.8 mm

infill:20 %

Speed: 40 mm/s

Support: Yes

Adhesion: Brim

  3. Make a stand using wood or 3D print to hold our print on it
  4. I use MDF for making Stand and Tilt It 30 Degrees.
