3D Printed "M" Cast

I created a cast of the letter "m" using fusion and a 3D printer

Ideation

I wanted to create a shape that wasn't super hard to create but would still work well as a mold and be cute. I decided on the letter M for the first letter of my name Maddie.

I started by importing the cylinder mold file, and building on top of that to make sure my cast wasn't too big. I made my "m" cast using line and rectangle tools, and then extruded it with a taper angle.

Fabrication

My 3D printed cast came out perfectly, It wasn't too big or too small which is sometimes hard to guess when looking at it at a larger scale on fusion. the edges were sharp and it had a flat base, perfect for a mold.

To finish my design, I poured silicone into my cylinder cast to make a mold for chocolate. After the silicone was done setting it came out pretty much perfect with no bubbles. I pored the chocolate in and let it set in my fridge, it came out really easily with a couple of bubbles, and tasted great. I even made an ice cube with my mold afterwards, which looked super cute.
