3D Printed Iron Man's Arc Reactor Prop

In this project I made a 3D printed prop of Tony Stark's first arc reactor. It has 13 LEDs and is powered by a coin cell battery, specifically a 3v CR2032.

Supplies:

• 3v coin cell battery and holder
• Pla fillament both black and translucent - I used 3D Solutech's natural clear PLA filament and Sunlu black PLA
• Copper wire
• Super glue
• LEDs - I used 10 3mm Blue Flat Top LEDs and 3 normal blue 5mm LEDs
• Wire for soldering the LEDs together
• Switch - I didn't think to use one in mine, but I would highly recommend a small switch to turn on and off the LEDs
• Magnetic clip to hold the prop onto your shirt

Tools:

• Soldering Iron + solder
• 3D printer

I designed the parts in Fusion 360. All the stl files can be found on my Thingiverse page: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5162208

I printed the parts on my Ender 3 Pro. I reccomend printing just one at a time until you are sure you have the settings right.

You will need to print:

In black:

• 10 ArcReactorCopper
• 1 ArcReactorRing (needs support)

In clear:

• 10 ArcReactorClear
• 1 ArcReactorCenter

Wind the copper wire around the black "ArcReactorCopper" pieces. Don't worry about it being perfect because it won't do actually do anything, it is just decorative.

Super glue the wound pieces with all the other pieces and let dry. Don't be shy with the super glue, it needs the strength!

The LEDS are soldered in parallel. The circuit diamgram shows the general wiring. Make sure to also solder on your coin cell battery holder. Remember to wire all the LEDs according to their polarity.

To improve the design, you could:

• Make it more accurate to the Arc Reactor in the film
• Add a switch to turn it on and off
• Change the circuit to a brightness you prefer
• Add a more reliable clip - it may not stay on if you are running around
