3D Printed Box Gpsdo. Using Cell Phone Power Supply.
Here is an alternative of my GPSDO YT here
The code is the same.
The pcb is the same with a bit of modification.
I'm using a cell phone adapter. With this, no need to install the power supply section.
We need a 5v ocxo as well. I'm using a simple oven. Square wave. OCX0131-100
At the end, the gpsdo is smaller and run very well.
Part Needed
Parts needed are:
OCXO 5v
Lcd display
3d printed box
Cell phone charger
USB B connector
A gpsdo yt pcb. See my other instructable.
A gps module. I'm using a neo 6m
Schematic
This is the schematic. As you can see i did red X on the unused part.
As you can see. With very few parts. We can do something of very accurate.
I remove power supply.
I kept C13
I'm not using any led. But you could. In my case the box is clear so i see the blinking led from gps module.
The Box, Lid and Spacer.
You will need stl files to 3d print the box.
Available on thingiverse here
To print the box, i printed upside down with support.
Lid and spacer if needed are not very special and easy to print.
PCB Modification
Here we do not install the power supply section. So, capacitor and regulator give us room to install a USB B connector. But first we need to do 2 holes.
If you look the picture you will see where to do this.
One is for the cables and the other is for the pin frame leg. You will solder this one to the ground bottom wire.
The other leg will go to ground of C4.
2 wires are needed to jump the ground and vcc. See the red and black wire. I also provided a pinout picture.
ATTENTION:
Install a black tape on IC2 connector pin to isolate the usb b connector frame.
LCD Display in Box With Bnc Connector.
You need to provide 4 little screws to install the lcd display. Maybe glue can works but better to find some screws. Hole a already there.
The bnc connectors holes are a bit smaller than nedded. You will need to enlarge the holes with a iron file or sand paper. The result must be a bnc connector in a tight oval hole. So this one will not move.
LCD Cable
OCXO
For the ocxo i used a double face scotch tape.
Gps Module Spacer
As you can see, i added a plastic spacer just above the ocxo. I used hot glue here.
Need to Program the Atmega
For this part, you will need to see my other gpsdo instructable here
Step 11 and 12.
Same code, same fuse bit must be used.
Put Everything Inside. and Conclusion
I like this little gpsdo. Smaller and very accurate. If you look the log, you can see all 00 and 01.
So the accuracy of + or - .001 is reached.
Hope you enjoy
