Have a flashlight lying around? Make it look like the theater lights that professionals use in plays and photo shoots! I was really pleased at how it ended up looking, and it made my photos really cool!

You will need:

-A Flashlight (higher powered is better—my military grade flashlight worked perfectly)

-A 3D Pen

-PLA filament in any color you with (bright colors are the best)

-Printer paper

-A sharpie

-Masking tape or a 3D pen mat

Trace Your Flashlight

First, you’ll want to turn your 3D pen to the PLA setting. While it is heating up, place the end of the flashlight with the bulb on the printer paper. Get out your sharpie and trace around the flashlight so that you have a circle outline on the paper. Cover it with the 3D pen mat or masking tape to prevent the filament sticking to the paper.

Next, insert your filament into the 3D pen. Draw around the outside of the circle outline, then begin to fill in the circle. Make sure that there are no gaps while you are filling the circle in as light can escape from the flashlight cover. After you have filled in the circle, place your flashlight on top to make sure that the circle covers the flashlight fully. Start to draw around the edge of the circle a few times to build up the sides. If needed, run your finger around the inside of the wall to keep the walls upright. Build up the walls until they are about 1/4 inch tall. Peel it off the paper or 3D pen mat and try it on your flashlight and see if it fits. If it doesn’t, build up the walls a little higher while bringing them closer to the middle. You can also tape the sides onto the flashlight. Enjoy this really cool flashlight cover, and enjoy your really cool photos!
