3 Guitars Stand

I enjoy repairing and modifying guitars, but you also need to be able to store them properly to avoid arguments. That's why I designed this three-guitar stand from reclaimed wood.

Supplies

Pallet wood, 15cm wide (for the base)

Plywood or chipboard, 400x400x(18mm or 20mm) (for the top)

Steel pipe, 16mm or 20mm diameter, or a broom handle, 900mm long

Black leather (or imitation leather) (for the trim)

Hole saw, 68mm diameter, jigsaw

Wood drill bit (the same diameter as the tube, 16 or 20mm), screws, glue, black paint

Time: approximately 5-6 hours if you have all the necessary tools

The Drawing

Manual drawing... Yes, I know.. I come from the old school!

First and foremost, the wood must be sanded.

The cutting must be precise, otherwise the result will be uneven. Drilling, screwing, and gluing present no particular difficulties.

The Upper Part

I used a piece of black melamine-faced chipboard I had on the shelf.

The holes were made with a 68mm diameter hole saw.

Keep the resulting plywood rounds safe.

The central hole is the same diameter as the tube (16mm in my case).

The Metallic Pipe

We retrieve the 4 discs obtained in step 3.

They are drilled through the center to the diameter of the pipe.

I mounted them on the tube (so that they were perfectly centered) and glued them in pairs.

Once dry, the discs must be positioned at the correct height and screwed onto the pipĂȘ.

Assembly

Next, I painted all the wooden parts black, and you just need to follow the instructions for assembly. No particular difficulty for someone with good DIY skills.

Finally,

  1. on the inside, I glued leather (or imitation leather) strips under the feet that rest on the floor, on the notches that support the guitars, and
  2. on the top, I glued them on the round notches (to avoid damaging the neck).

My wife is happy, and I avoided a domestic dispute... Phew!
