2CV Lamp (wood and Concret)

Hello,

This is my first contribution to instructable with this 2CV headlight lamp.

My grand father offer me a 2CV headlight and I try to magnify it.

I am French so be nice with my poor English ;-)

To realise this lamp I bought all this following :

_ Oak plank 15$

_ concret 2.5kg + 15kg sand 10$

_ screws + nuts + bolts 5$

_ 2CV headlight free (My magic grand father present)

_ Rustol varnish 15$

_ Vasline 5$

_ cable + socket + electrical outlet 10$

So all for 60$

I start by the wood part of the job.

First, sans down the full oak plank, after that cut 2 piece of 4cm by 80cm and 2 pieces of 4cm by 40cm.

Drow a scare of 4cm by 4cm at the end of each pieces od wood and drill one the middle.

Sand down with 120 and 180 and wash the wood with a wet tissue.

To protect the wood I am using a oil and not a varnish, it look more natural then varnish.

Try the nuts and bolt to see if you mess with the size ;-)

I did this socle to avoid the contact between the wood and concret.

I mess with my first concret test, effectively never have contact between theme.

The wood will have an expension with humidity and break the concret.

So I did this socle with three pieces of metal and a nuts solder with MIG.

As I say I had some problem with concret.

After many research and so many different advise I did a mix of :

3 sand + 1 concret and water to have a nice past like a cooky daw.

covert when you finish to mold your concret lamp feet

Keep it for two or three day

during this long time you can relax with wine, watching it dring ;-)

The headlight was very dirty so I sand it with 120 / 180 / 220 until having a nice metal to varnish.

To avoid a dirty way of fixing the lamp I did a nut with wood.

For this one I drill a hall in the wood just a size down of the nut size.

After that screw the Lamp in the wood with some vaseline to slide easely in.

For the lamp I glue the bulb socket insead.

I drill two hall, one for the cable and one for the switch.

I bought a cable in coton for the vintage effect and take a big massive switch as well for the vintage effect.

The headlight was 40W max so I didn't try more power
