STATUS & LEAVE BEHINDS

THERE'S A LOT HERE, CNC FILES ARE PENDING.

ONE CONTAINER HAS BEEN BUILT ALREADY WITH AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD. THIS DESIGN IS BASED ON THE LESSONS LEARNED FROM THAT EFFORT - PRIMARILY: THAT A METAL SHOP / WELDING DO NOT CREATE A FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT TO LIVE IN OR NEAR BECAUSE OF FIRE AND LOWER QUALITY AIR FOR BREATHING, MAKING IMMEDIATE MOVE-IN WHILE RETAINING RAPID CONSTRUCTION NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. AT THE VER LEAST WITHOUT SEVERELY CONSIDERED SEQUENCING, A UNIQUE ATTACHMENT METHOD TO THE CONTAINER STRUCTURE ITSELF, CHANGES FROM EXISTING CODE, AND USE OF FIREPROOF/RESISTANT MATERIALS (STEEL/CONCRETE/WOODSLAB.)

PROJECT DURATION IN RELATION TO A SHIPPING CONTAINER OFTEN REQUIRES MOVING INTO IT OR NEARBY (TYPICALLY A TRAILER OR RV, SOMETIMES A TENT) FOR A PERIOD. HOWEVER - THERE ARE OTHER MODULAR BUILDING SYSTEMS WHICH ARE ASSEMBLED IN 24 HOURS, MEANING - A SHIPPING CONTAINER MUST BE ABLE TO DO THE SAME.

THE OBVIOUS ANSWERS: MAGNETS, FASTENERS THROUGH THE STRUCTURE, AND MASTIC/GLUE. HOWEVER - THESE ARE EITHER EXPENSIVE AND LESS PERMANENT, OR THEY CREATE VOLATILE FUMES WHICH REQUIRE TIME TO DISSIPATE AND WHICH RESULT IN A LESS ARCHITECTURALLY DESIRABLE FINISH.

IN SHORT THIS MEANS: NO ROUGH FRAMING OR WALL MOUNTED ITEMS, ELIMINATE NON-STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS AS WELL AS ITEMS THAT BURN, BEND, MELT, OR MOLD EASILY INCLUDING: BATTON INSULATION, CONDUIT, ROMEX, WALL OUTLETS, FLIP SWITCHES, WOOD FRAMING (2X4S), ETC. ALL OF THESE ITEMS ARE DANGEROUS AROUND WELDING, AND RESULT IN A BUILDING THAT IS MORE EXPENSIVE AS WELL AS LESS USEFUL WHEN BUILDING IN A SHIPPING CONTAINER (OR MOST ANYWHERE ELSE FRANKLY INCLUDING: A NEW BUILDING, A BOAT, A VEHICLE, ETC. MANY OF THESE OLD CONSTRUCTION METHODS ARE WORTH REPLACING WITH A MODERN ALTERNATE.)

MOST IMPORTANTLY - CONTAINER CONSTRUCTION REQUIRES A RAPID WELDING METHOD, IDEALLY ONE WITHOUT ANY EXCESS HEAT OR SPARKS/SLAG. A STUD WELDER IS THE EASY OPTION (READILY AVAILABLE), SOME KIND OF FRICTION BASED WELDING IS AN ALTERNATE (GOOD LUCK GETTING THAT MACHINE ON THE CHEAP.)

CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE

# ACQUIRE SHEET GOODS (SHEETMETAL & PLYWOOD) - CUT/FORM/CAST

  1. ACQUIRE SHEETMETAL AND PLYWOOD OR METAL COMPOSITE METAL IN 4'X8' SHEETS.
  2. CNC ROUTE AND PLASMA CUT SHAPES.
  3. FORM-UP AND WELD/FASTEN SHAPES INTO FORMWORK FOR - BATHROOM, KITCHEN, AND MURPHY UNIT.
  4. CAST IN CONCRETE AND REMOVE FROM FORMWORK.

# ACQUIRE SHIPPING CONTAINER & PLACE ON LOT (PERMANENT LOCATION STRONGLY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.)

# ACQUIRE APPLIANCES (POINT OF USE WATER HEATER, HVAC, LIGHT CONTROLS, WIFI BREAKERS & BOX, ROMEX WIRING, COPPER WATER PIPING, RV OR MARINE PLUGS FOR CONNECTION TO GRID, A SINGLE ON/OFF TERMINAL/SWITCH/BREAKER FOR ALL THE POWER IN THE UNIT, A SINGLE VALVE FOR ALL THE WATER, AND A SINGLE VALVE FOR ALL THE WASTE INCLUDING A QUICK DISCONNECT METHOD (CAM) - OR IDEALLY, A PERMANENT LOCATION!!!

# ASSEMBLE MODULAR FURNITURE AND APPLIANCES INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE CONTAINER DEPENDING ON AVAILABILITY OF A SEPARATE STAGING AREA (WAREHOUSE OR LOT WITH SHADED AWNING.)

  1. PLACE MODULAR FURNITURE INTO UNIT AND OCCUPY FOR LIVE/WORK
  2. THE MODULAR FURNITURE IS FIREPROOF, AND ANY FLAMMABLE ITEMS (CLOTHING & PAPER) ARE MAINTAINED ON THE FAR CONTAINER SIDE WHERE SPARKS CAN BE CONTAINED OR ARE WITHIN A CONCRETE/STEEL BOX FOR THE MURPHY BED AND CLOSET.
  3. LAYOUT GRID AT EXTERIOR OF UNIT AND ALONG CEILING FOR STUD ATTACHMENTS OF PERFORATED PANELS.
  4. INSTALL STUDS WITH A STUD WELDER.
  5. ATTACH PANELS WITH STUDS AND NUTS.
  6. ASSEMBLE PREFABRICATED ROOF.

LICENSE: YOU MAY USE THIS DESIGN IF YOU SHOW LOVE FOR THY NEIGHBOR AND PROMOTE A DIRECT RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST (AS IN - FORGIVENESS FROM CHRIST IS FREE AND HAS NO RELATIONSHIP TO MONEY.) IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE IN CHRIST, HOLY SPIRIT, AND GOD - OR ARE ACTING IN A WAY THAT IS INTENDED TO HARM AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR NEIGHBOR - THEN YOU MAY NOT USE THIS WORK.
