2-in-1 Pizza Cutter/Server
What up Instructable viewers, it's Dollyboy1923 A.K.A PixelDonkey. I just got back from conceptualizing a 2-in-1 Pizza Cutter/Server, and no spoilers, but it's so refreshing to be thinking I did an alright job. (Why did I make an Amazing World Of Gumball Reference my intro?)
Anyway, a while back I saw a contest called "Engineering in the Kitchen" and thought it'd be fun to try my hand at making an Instructable. I'm not going to lie, I'm a huge fan of pizza. I think in the past 3 days I've had pizza 4 times, and I love to make pizza at home with my mom. So it only seemed natural to make something regarding pizza.
The biggest problem with serving pizza is that you have to use 2 utensils, one for cutting the pizza, and another for serving. So I thought, "What if I just combine these two?" I whipped up some messy drawings and proceeded to design something that was (hopefully) not too clunky and awkward to hold.
I'd be done with this project in a relatively short time right?
Editor's note: If I hadn't procrastinated that probably would've been true.
Supplies
Now technically because this is purely a concept right now, no supplies are needed. If you did want to make this though, I suppose you'd need a CNC machine and a 3D printer.
Create an Idea
So I was really trying to make sure that the cutter was also a part of the server just to reduce its clunkiness. I thought of two ideas (one I'll probably add an image for later), but the one I selected is the one that's been CADed (CADded?) below.
CAD It
At this point, I was pretty hyped. It seemed like I had an awesome idea. So I got on Onshape and made a CAD that was a general gist of what I wanted. Great! Now I just had to polish it up a little and 3D print it for testing.
Sleep on It
I forgot about it for like 2 weeks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Re-CAD It
So I kinda re-CADed it. Also this time in TinkerCad. It's just a lot cleaner and simpler. Now that being said I kinda don't know how to create movement in TinkerCad, as I mainly work with Onshape right now.
Print and Test It
I did not have time for this step but I'll update it later.
