2 Piece Easy Sew Bag

Here's how to make your own 2 piece easy sew bag

Leather for outer as well as liner
Thread and needles
Cutting tool
Leather for handle or chain
Patience

Measure how large your pattern is and make your desired cuts.

First you need to determine what you will make your bag with.

The larger bag here was made with acid wash rose gold hair on hide and lined with coffee pig suede for liner.
The small one was the same for outer and the inner was a white pebble grain.

I used a poster board for pattern. The larger bag was 8 inches tall by 6 inches wide by 12 inches long.

I measure out the 12 inch length in center of poster board and then cut out the excess to allow the pattern to lay out.

This left a cross style once cut out. I had added some 4 Oz leather as a base and had removed the 2 side liner pieces later at my wife's request.

I had cut the pig suede liner a bit larger to allow for room when forming bag. I attached it with clips to see how it would look.

When finished look was achieved, I used barge cement to glue the liner to inside of the bag.

When it came to stitching the bag, I wanted to try and hide the edges due to the hair on hide sticking out the sides. Upon a quick youtube search and a few videos I decided on a corset stitch as it hid the stray hairs.

All that was needed to make it into a bag was folding all 4 sides up and sewing together.

I lined up all my sides and punched the holes and got to stitching.
The top looked a bit unfinished and it was mainly for decorative purposes but I ran a stitch line alone the top to finish it off.

I removed the handles with chicago screws and used feibings mahogany and dyed them in two stages to match the liner and reattached them.

The handles you add can be made from leather, rope or even bag chain whatever your heart desires.

My wife was wanting to have a cross body style so I added some hooks to screw into the sides that allowed a cross body chain as well as punched out 4 one inch holes and added grommets to allow the 1 inch leather handles through on the sides.

At this point I decided against having it reversible and removed stitching and stitched it with the curve inside where the pig suede lined up against each other.

The hooks I added where secured with a screw and the chain was bought with clips attached. This was added to the bag and the project was complete.

Granted if you use leather rather than hair on hide a normal saddle stitch can be used then just complete with burnishing.

Now your project is completed. Good job for sticking it out!!! It can be tough at times but now you can say you done it.
