1st Place Metal(Inches)

I_intro.PNG

This is a metal for 1st place. It can be used for anything that you want it to be. The color can be anything, but for this medal I made a vibrant golden color.

Supplies

For this 3D design, I used Onshape in order to create this design.

Onshape | Product Development Platform

Sketching

I_step1.PNG

To start, go ahead and create a new document on Onshape in your Onshape Account and make sure your workshop units is in inches. Then, you start by making a sketch on the front plane. Copy the design above using the tools in the toolbar section to create the 2D part of the design first.

  1. Create an inscribed polygon with 10 sides with the inscribed polygon tool on the top of the different tools you can use to create different shapes.
  2. Make a hole/circle on the top of the polygon; measure 0.2 inches from the top of the polygon to the center of the placed circle.
  3. The diameter of the circle should be 0.25 inches.
  4. Select the text tool on top of the tools area and type in the words.
  5. Them, you will have to center the text within the polygon with a constructed line guiding it.

Extrude 1

I_step2.PNG

Then, you will extrude the front face of the sketch by 0.2 inches but keep the hole untouched in order for some sort of string to go through after 3D printing the design.

Shell

I_step3.PNG

Next, you shell the face of the extrude with 0.05-inch thickness while viewing the front place. It will leave the sides alone, but the inside hallow.

Extrude 2

I_step4.PNG

Due to the shell deleting the words on the medal, we will individually extrude the letters of the text by 0.2 inches. Make sure you do not accidently extrude the face of the first extrude.

Chamfer

I_step5.PNG

Then, you will chamfer the outer edges that is highlighted above, and it should be by 0.05 inches in distance.

Finally, you can 3D print it out and enjoy your medal!
