$14 Recycled Dr. Pepper Bottle Chandelier

My husband drinks a lot of soda and since we live in the country we have no way to recycle. We can only burn our garbage. I have been saving them for almost a year looking for something to inspire me. One day I inspired myself! The entire piece is very lightweight. It consists entirely of soda bottles, plastic plant trays and a simple rope light. The whole thing costs about $14 to make. So here it is!

• (3) plastic plant trays. I purchased "6, 10" and 18" from Lowes. They were about $2 a piece.
• (1) 16' rope light from Walmart. About $12
• (65) 2 liter soda bottles
• Hot glue
• Packing tape
• Scissors

1. Cut out the bottom of the bottles and trim into various shapes
2. Paint and add bling. The idea is to use the paint sparingly to let more light shine through. I did not paint the bottoms. I also used a fork to scratch decorations into the petals. I used a wood burner to make little holes in some of the petals.
   
3. Hot glue 2 of the halves together. This is more fun at the end. If all of your pieces are different you can pick and choose pieces rather than plan each flower at the beginning!

1. Cut holes in the center of the plant trays to fit the size of the bottles.
2. Hot glue the bottles to the plant trays and secure with packing tape. You should have 3 levels.
3. Coil the rope light all the way down through the lamp.

1. Hot glue flowers to the bottom and the mid-section first.
2. You can paint the trays if you like but I found it darkened the lamp a bit too much for my liking so I took it off.

You can hang it anyway you like or just use it as a table lamp. We are building our home so I am going to hang it over the island in my new kitchen once we get around to building it! :)
