10 Dollar GoPro Monopod!!!

For this instructable I show how to make a monopod out of that useless display box the go pro came with!

Materials

The only materials that you might not have at home are the paracord and dowel these are both around five dollars.

Drill Some Holes!

Drill a hole near the end of the dowel using a 5/16 inch drill bit. Measure 2.75 inches down and drill another hole. When drilling through the dowel, be sure to take your time and don't apply to much pressure for a precise clean hole.

Prepping the Stand!

To prepare the mount for drilling place it upside down on dowel with the part that holds the camera in place in between the two drilled holes. Take a pencil and stick it through each hole and mark on the stand as hard as you can. The harder you do it the more visible it will be.

Lets Drill Some More...

For this step we drill a hole in each corner of the mount. The hole should be aligned with the mark you made in the previous step. When drilling through the mount start slow just and get really fast but don't apply to much pressure or the mount will shatter.

Lash It Together!

Loop a 2 foot section of paracord through the mount and into the stick. You may need to use a paper clip like a needle and thread to get the both strings of paracord through the dowel. Tie them off in the back with a square knot. Loop the remaining peices back through the mount and tie another square knot. Snip off the excess cord.

The Final Product.

This monopod is great for getting good shots of yourself. It also makes for very interesting videos
