{ PRINTER TRAY TABLE }

You own a printer's tray but don't know what to do with it? You've come to the right place! Discover how with an old printer's tray found in a flea market, I created a beautiful table for my dining room, in shabby, antique and nautical style !

( 1 ) PRINTER'S TRAY from a flea market, antiques or second-hand.
( 2 ) RESIN-BASED PAINT of the colour of your choice or white. ∗
( 3 ) SHELLS picked up on a beach or bought in a decoration store. ∗∗
( 4 ) ADHESIVE PASTE of the colour of your choice or white.
( 5 ) GLASS or PLEXIGLASS PLATE of the same size as the drawer.
( 6 ) TABLE BASE reused from an old table or to make yourself.
( 7 ) BRUSH classic.

∗ As this type of lacquer is a product that smells very strong and is difficult to remove in case of stains, I strongly advise you to use it outside, with clothes that you will not be afraid to stain and preferably on a tarpaulin. You can easily use a white wood paint instead or wood varnish, however if you want to make it a dining room table like me, lacquer is the most appropriate and easiest to clean with a sponge.

∗∗ If you don't want to fill your table with shells, you can fill it with any other small object you want: figurines, dried flowers, minerals, beads or memorabilia!

( 1 ) First, clean the printer's tray to ensure that the wood is clean and smooth.
( 2 ) Then paint the entire tray with the lacquer and let it dry.
( 3 ) Depending on the characteristics of the lacquer and the wood, demarcations and differences in opacity may appear.
( 4 ) In case of flaws, reapply two or three coats of lacquer if necessary.

( 5 ) Let dry according to the time indicated on the lacquer container and fix the printer's tray on the table basis (previously built by you or like me recycled from an old table).
( 6 ) Take various shells and adhesive paste.
( 7 ) Organize these shells by size, shape, colour or species.
( 8 ) Then apply a small amount of adhesive paste under each shell.

( 9 ) Use the adhesive paste to fix these shells in each compartment of the tray, making sure to vary their layout.
( 10 ) TIP: Organize them by placing a shell of each species, colour, shape and size in the four corners and then the middle of the tray so that no corner of the tray has too many repetitive shells and you will get a more harmonious layout.
( 11 ) Place the glass or plexiglass plate on the tray.
( 12 ) Then secure the plate to the tray with hinges or the fixing method of your choice.

Here you go, your old printer's tray transformed into a pretty shabby and nautical table is ready! All you have to do now is to place it where you want it in your home and why not match the chair covers to its design or reproduce this tutorial for a coffee or bedside table!
